Turda salt mine re-entered the tourism market on January 22, following significant consolidating and modernizing works.
The necessary funds to consolidate and modernize salt mine were financed through European sources – EUR 4.8 mil., as well as by Turda city hall and Cluj County Council – EUR 1 mil.
A six-storied spa complex was developed close to Durgau lake. The project also included upgrading works at Rudolf mine in Salina, where an amphitheatre with 80 seats was developed for concerts and musical auditions, sports and mini-golf course.
Rudolf mine, 40 m height, features a modern elevator to enjoy the view.
A pier was set in Terezia mine, so that tourists can go for a walk with the boat on the salt lake.
Ghizela mine turned into a treatment facility. Special assistance is provided by a medical center.
Exploiting the salt mines in Turda dates back to the Roman age.
