TUI: Bulgaria outruns Romania by 7-8 years in tourism development

Add comment

Romania is outrun by Bulgaria by 7-8 years from the tourism development criteria and is lacking foreign investors, while the neighbor country reported significant progress following the privatization process, consider Detlev Hohne, Manager of TUI German tour operator for Maroc, Romania and Bulgaria.

One of the main problems of Romania is the short summer season, which is insufficient to attract foreign investors, interested in operating business for at least six months.

The TUI representative considers that Romania’s tourism offer is not properly promoted, but that it meets all natural conditions necessary to become a successful tourism destination, able to meet any tourist’s demand. For instance, German tourists show a special interest in the cities from Transylvania, such as Sibiu and Brasov.

Also, Hohne considers that Romania has not speculated enough the fact that Sibiu was the 2007 European Cultural Capital, in order to promote its tourism offer.

TUI will operate again in Romania starting this spring, with a charter flight between Munich and Constanta.
