Approximately three out of ten Romanians living in urban areas give up on their holiday this year, while 16% will reduce the budget for the vacation according to a study of 360insights research company for Mediafax.
According to the study, the persons giving up their vacation this year are mainly the elder persons, but also the persons with a low income or unemployed. Also, the persons whose salaries have been reduced follow this trend.
36% of the respondents stated that they will not reduce their expenditures for holiday, most of them young, high income persons and persons with higher incomes than in 2009.
Regarding the income evolution this year compared to 2009, approximately half of the persons living in urban areas said their income is the same, while 37% of the respondents stated that their income decreased.
Respondents having a similar income as in 2009 are relatively optimistic, while a third of them consider their income will grow in the next six months to 2 years.
Moreover, 9% of the respondents stated their income increased compared to last year and half of them expect a new increase in one year at most.
The survey was carried out from April to May 2010 on a sample of 800 respondents in urban areas, with ages from 16 to 64.
