The unique European wild beach in Sulina to be improved

Tulcea County Council approved a study and project to improve the beach in Sulina. The investment will exceed EUR 3.57 mil. and will be implemented within 2 years.

The spokesman of Tulcea County Council, Paula Giurea, stated that the investment obtained the environmental approval from ARBDD, Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority, partner institution within project. 

Giurea specified that the beach structure will mainly be kept. The beach will be provided with shower cabins, lifeguard, pedestrian alleys and road, beach equipment renting spaces.

Concrete will not be used for construction but specific raw for Danube Delta such as bulrush and tiles.

Sulina beach is known to be unique in Europe, especially due to the very fine sand quality.

The project of turning the sole wild beach in Europe into a tourist resort is older than 5 years, but ecologists blocked it.

The impact of intensive tourism exploiting on the ecosystem is significant.
