Eulogio Bordas, President of THR Asesores en Turismo, Hoteleria y Recreacion SA, which will develop Romania’s tourism brand together with Taylor Nelson Sofres SA, stated that more than 10,000 interviews will be carried out to test the perception of Romanian and foreign tourists of Romania as destination.
The interview will be carried out among opinion leaders, tour operators, business men, politicians and other persons on the Romanian and international markets, specified Bordas, adding that 6,800 interviews were carried out for Spain’s tourism brand.
At the same time, the THR president specified that the amount of EUR 900,000 is sufficient to develop the country’s tourism brand.
The project of developing the tourism brand consists of three stages. The first stage includes performing a market research. It will start with a qualitative research, each interview having a cost between EUR 35 and 50, depending on the each country. The purpose is to get answers related to threats and opportunities of Romania as tourism destination, specified the representative of THR.
The tourism brand will be promoted on foreign markets such as Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Ireland, France, Hungary, Russia, Great Britain, USA.
The branding strategy is the second stage, requiring 1,000 to 1,500 hours of work.
The final phase consists of designing the brand - creating the logo, the slogan, other elements of visual identity - and positioning it.
Eulogio Bordas specified that usually several visual identities are created and, as a result of running tests among target-audience, the identity best communicating the message will be chosen. The implementation part is the final step.
Bordas also stated that local partners have been already chosen and probably other partners will be involved, if necessary.
The president of THR came to Romania last week to meet the Ministry’s representatives.
The Ministry will hold a second auction, following the development of the tourism brand, in order to select the company in charge of the promotion. The allocated budget reaches EUR 73 mil.
