Last year, the 50 hotel units and 22 boarding houses in Cluj-Napoca reported a decrease in number of guests between 15% and 50%, compared to 2008.
The specialists in this sector specified that the market will decrease from EUR 30 mil. to EUR 25 mil. in 2010.
At the beginning of the year, the municipality decided to drop the hotel tax to 4%, in order to help the hotel industry to face recession. In addition, a future city break project of the Association of Cluj Hotel Owners, AHC, will be developed together with the Local and County Council, as well as other partners.
