In 2008, Romania reported the highest increase of passengers’ number of airlines, following Latvia, according to an Eurostat study.
The number of passengers increased up to 8.03 mil. persons in Romania last year, by 16.3%, the same as in Slovakia, while in Latvia, it increased by 16.8%.
The highest declines considering the passengers’ number were registered by Hungary – 1.8%, Great Britain – 1.6% and Spain – 1.3%.
In spite of the last year’s decrease, Great Britain maintained in the top of countries with the highest passengers traffic, precisely 214 mil. individuals, followed by Germany, with 166 mil. passengers and Spain, 161 mil. passengers.
The total number of passengers traveling by plane last year in the 27 EU countries increased by 0.6% compared to 2007, up to 798 mil. persons.
