Yilmaz Yildirimlar, manager of the 5 star hotel Radisson SAS in Bucharest, continues to pursuit the former manager’s objective of the hotel becoming the market’s leader, but he can’t say if the goal will be met in 2009. A hotel needs 3 years to reach its peak development, while Radisson SAS has been operational for only half of year on the market, stated Yilmaz Yildirimlar, who took over the managing position from Tobjorn Bodin.
At present, Bucharest hotel market’s leader is JW Marriott, with a capacity of 402 rooms, operating businesses valued at EUR 40 mil. Radisson SAS has 424 rooms. Yilmaz Yildirimlar foresees that 65-70% of the revenues will be generated by corporate contracts, including conferences.
The new manager’s first decisions envisage optimising activity, including personnel cuts. At present, the hotel has 300 employees, 15% less than in March last year.
Food and beverages segment generates at present 35-40% of the hotel’s revenues, while the company plans to increase the share of accommodation up to 65-70%.
