The new airport located in the south of Bucharest: not a priority for the new government

Add comment

The priorities of the new Government don’t include the airport to be developed in the southern region of Bucharest, projected to reduce traffic on Henri Coanda International Bucharest and Aurel Vlaicu International Airport.

However the program includes completing the passengers’ terminal from Otopeni Airport for reaching a total capacity of 5 million passengers a year.

In August 2008, the Government approved the legal act to develop the airport in Southern region of the capital, which was to be financed by the state budget. Also, this year, the Ministry for Transports supposed to perform a feasibility study to develop the airport but in November, the officials announced postponing the elaboration of the study for 2009, due to lack of funds.
