The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to simplify the access in the airline space regulations

Add comment

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, MTI, plans to simplify the rules for the access in the airline space, following the pattern of other European states which includes a non-discriminating treatment between the airline operators from EU countries concerning the flights authorizations.

Therefore, the ministry chose to eliminate planning or authorization for internal flights fully performed in the G class airline space for the Romanian and EU countries operators, for several reasons, among which the fact that no member state of the European Union demands this type of documents.

The current procedure for authorizing flights performed by civil and public aircrafts in the national airline space was approved through a Governmental Decision, no. 1172 in 2003. The decision includes elements considered to hamper the free movement of persons in the EU space or discriminations related to the treatment applied to EU residents.

The aircrafts registered in Romania can perform flights in the national airline space through the planning assured by the Ministry of National Defense.

The operators of aircrafts registered in other EU member state can perform the same type of flights by getting an authorization from the Romanian Civil Aeronautic Authority, for which an application needs to be submitted two days before the date of starting the flying activity.
