The Minister of Tourism, Elena Udrea, stated that she no longer intends to privatize the companies included in the ministry’s portfolio due to the economic crisis. However, the companies where the Romanian state is minoritary shareholder might be sold this year. The Ministry of Tourism owns, in the name of the state, shares at 23 companies. For 5 of them, the shares owned by the state account for less than 10%. A governmental decision, published in the Official Gazette in March, shows that authorities expect revenues of EUR 2.38 mil. from the privatization of the companies included in the Tourism Ministry’s portfolio.
