According to the regulation modified by the Government, the licenses for travel agencies are valid on an indefinite period of time, until the criteria and conditions of the license change and it will not be necessary to re-approve it at the Ministry of Tourism every 3 years, as currently happens. According to the changes of the Governmental Decision no. 238/2001 on the conditions of obtaining license and tourism brevet published in the Official Gazette, the person in charge with the operative management of a travel agency or a subsidiary in another locality or an accommodation facility must own at least one of the following documents: certificate of graduating a management training course in tourism, organized by an authorized training provider, bachelor/ master/ doctorate, certifying the graduation of university/ post-university courses, tourism brevet according to the position occupied.
At the same time, the authorities introduced a fine, from EUR 7,200 to EUR 12,000 for those hampering under any means the authorized persons to carry on their control attributions.
The other contraventions, which still are punished by fines between 144,500 EUR and 241,000 EUR are still valid.
