The largest and most modern Olympic skating ring in Romania opened in Brasov

On February 18, the largest and most modern Olympic skating ring opened in Romania at Brasov. The total investment reaches EUR 10 mil. and was supported by Brasov city hall and by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism.

Construction works were initiated in 2008, on the former place of a lake located in Tractorul Park. The skating ring was the first completed sports objective of those to be developed for the Youth Olympic Games, which will potentially take place in Brasov in 2013 in other four cities on the Prahova Valley.

The covered skating ring lies on an area of over 6,000 sq m, has 1,600 places on seats, 400 standing seats and will be functional all year long. There are also 6 lockers for teams with a capacity of 25 persons, locker room for coach staff for 5 persons, first aid office and anti-doping control rooms, two force gym halls, pedestrian alleys, athlete alleys and other similar facilities for athletes, coach personnel and officials.

The beneficiary of this skating ring is Brasov municipality and the complex will be managed by Youth and Sport Direction within Brasov municipality.
