The cruise demand generated by Romanians might double this year

The local cruise demand could double this year, compared to 2009, as a result of an average reduction of tariffs by approximately 40%, according to the croaziere.net travel agency.

Tariffs decreased by 70% in several cases, the travel agencies applying dumping prices in order to have at least 65% occupancy.

The travel agency sold cruises to approximately 2,000 tourists last year, while for the current year the number is expected to double up to 4,000 tourists. 

Mediterranean Sea ranks first in the top of Romanians favorite destinations in 2010, as well as Europe, due to accessible costs of traveling by plane from and towards the embarking locations. At the same time, there is an increasing demand for destinations as Alaska, South America, Panama Channel with Caribbean, stated Ioan Basea, the General Manager and owner of croaziere.net, the travel agency form Cluj, which covers 80% of the market. 

The prices for a cruise sold by the travel agency from Cluj start at EUR 500 per person and can go up to USD 8,000 per person.
