The Castel in Carpathian Mountains, a new ski resort in Romania

Near Vulcan locality, on Jiu Valley, a new ski resort is to be developed under the name the Castel in Carpathian Mountains. The value of the investments is estimated at EUR 26 mil.

The project includes developing 5 ski slopes, of which the longest will have 5 km. Moreover, accommodation facilities and cable transport installations will be developed. The access to the resort will be provided by a gondola leaving from Vulcan town.

Gheorghe Ile, mayor of Vulcan town stated the project was completed and EUR 2.38 mil. are already available to start the construction of the gondola.

At the same time, improvement works to the road towards Vulcan Pass are underway. 2 km are already completed, another 5 more to complete the road being also necessary.

The authorities will be very strict regarding constructions regulation within resort perimeter, chalets for tourists are to be developed respecting both material and height traditions of the region. Two models are available for holiday homes. Chalets will have a capacity of maximum 10 rooms, stated Ile.

The project is financially supported by the national program Super ski in Romania. The necessary amounts will be supported by governmental funds.
