Tarom estimates EUR 180,000 profit in 2009

Tarom airlines foresees a gross profit of approximately EUR 180,000 for the current year, following losses of EUR 4 mil. last year, according to the project of governmental decision, approving the budget of revenues and expenditures of the company for this year, developed by the Ministry of Transport.

Moreover, it is foreseen that revenues of Tarom company will increase by 9.8% up to approximately EUR 365 mil.

Salary fund will maintain the level of EUR 35.5 mil., as well as the number of employees of 2,477 persons. The General Manager of Tarom, Ruxandra Brutaru, also stated that this year the company will not apply personnel cuts, but will redistribute employees to optimize the activity.

Brutaru stated that 40 pilots of the total 200 will retire and their jobs will become available on the job market.

At the same time, the allocated amount for investments will double compared to last year, up to EUR 56 mil., out of which EUR 40 mil. will be covered by own resources, while EUR 16 mil. will be supported by external bank loans.
