Tarom airline estimates revenues of EUR 12 mil. for this year generated from charter flights as the company signed contracts with travel agencies and other companies on the market.
According to the company’s representatives, 85,000 passengers will be transported this summer with approximately 600 charter flights towards abroad destinations, such as Antalya, Bodrum, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Rodos, Heraklion, Kos, Santorini, Sharm El Sheikh and Hurgada.
The charter flights will account for 3% of the estimated revenues in 2010 for Tarom, compared to 5% in the last years.
This year, Tarom estimates total revenues by 48% higher, up to EUR 397.6 mil. according to the budget plan of the company.
In the first three months of the year, Tarom transported 415,000 passengers, by 26% more than compared to the previous three months of the last year.
Last year, the reduction of tourist holidays budgets led to a decrease of charter market by 35-40%, considering some flights were canceled or merged by the travel agencies due to the low occupancy of seats.
Approximately 130,000 tourists traveled by charter last year according to the data of the National Association of Travel Agencies.
