Tarom airline and Blue Air low-cost operator operate flights during winter season towards Salzburg ski destination in Austria, once a week. This flight is operated for the first time by Tarom, while the occupancy is estimated over 80%. Also, Blue Air low-cost operator also will operate on this route, foreseeing 80% occupancy rate, stated Adrian Ionascu, General Manager of Blue Air.
Dragos Dura, Sales Manager within marketing and sales department at Tarom, stated that approximately 95% of the seats have already been booked for New Year’s Eve.
Airline operators estimate that 40,000 tourists will be transported this season on Bucharest - Salzburg route. Last year, the number of Romanians accommodated in Salzburg land exceeded 40,000, increasing by 42.5% and the average length of stay was 4.2 nights, stated Gerhard Leskovar, Marketing Manager of promotion office of Salzburg, estimating that the number of Romanian tourists this winter will match the last year level. Romanian tourists skiing in Salzburg spent on average EUR 1,200 for a 5 days stay. Salzburg land has 22 ski areas on 1,700 km of ski slopes.
