Tarom airlines transported 1.02 mil. passengers in the first eights months of the year from and towards Romania, dropping 11.9% compared to the similar period in 2008, according to the AEA, the Association of European Airlines.
In the first eight months, the occupancy rate of Tarom was 54%, following a 1% increase of the flight capacity.
In August, the number of transported passengers was 166,000, decreasing by approximately 5% compared to the similar period last year.
Between January and June, the operator registered a 14.2% decrease of passengers’ number, compared to the same period in 2008, down to 703,700.
Tarom operates over 40 destinations in Europe, North Africa and Middle East.
