Spa sector develops more and more in Romania

Liliana Paraipan, general manager of MondoSpa, considers that spa centres will boom the next years in average sized localities in Romania. Some will have even three or four hotels providing such facilities.

This year, the number of spa centres increased by over 50%, especially on hotels segment reaching to 9 in 2008.

The number of spas in hotels increased over five times this year, from 2 in 2007 to 11 in 2008. Also, the number of balneary-spas increased 3 times in 2008, up to 6 units.

Romania still has 5 medical spas and one destination spa, the same as in 2007.

The existing types of spas on the Romanian market are: day spas, balneary, medical, destination, hotel and spas in residential ensembles.

More, in the future, day spas and spa centres in hotels will register the most significant development.

MondoSpa, Fivestar Hospitality, Trend Hospitality are the companies activating in spa consultancy sector on the Romanian market.
