The Scientific Comitee for Swiss Tourism Awards Festivity announced the Sighisoara City Hall that the city was awarded with “Medieval Jwelery of Romania” prize within the “Destination to be discovered” category.

Sighisoara is invited to get the award at the Swiss International Fair of Holidays, which will be held between October 29 and November 1, 2009.

The purpose of this event is to promote high quality tourism in destinations that differentiate through special features, to protect natural areas and cultural heritage, to encourage competitivity and high standards for services, but also to present them to the Swiss public.

In the document addressed to the Mayor of Sighisoara, Dorin Danesan, it is specified that Sighisoara, as awarded destination, will benefit of high transparency and promotion through mass media partners, because the Scientific Comitee has developed a promotional package to increase its visibility in Switzerland for 1 year.

The prize also implies that the Swiss and Northern Italian markets will promote Sighisoara highlights.
