Travel agencies sold 616,775 airplane tickets in the first semester of the current year, by 8.8% more compared to the similar period last year.
Moreover, the result registered by travel agencies following airplane tickets selling in the first six months of the year reaches EUR 153 mil., by 4.5% more than compared to the same period in 2009.
According to the data of IATA, although the number of issued tickets increased in the first semester, the level is by 10% less that the one of the similar period in 2008, the best year for airline industry.
Antonio Nitu, President of ANAT Commission for Airline Transport and Business Travel, stated that the data show a decline by 28% compared to the first semester in 2008, from EUR 212.4 mil. to EUR 153.1 mil.
