Romanian turn increasingly to online hotel booking

In 2009, online bookings in hotel industry in Romania reported 15% increase compared to the previous year, according to a study of Ipix Romania, ibooking services provider for hotels. The study was carried out on the company's clients from 2007 to 2009. In 2008, the number of online booking increased by 7%, compared to 2007.

The total advance of the online booking exceeds 20% within the 3 years period.

In 2007, according to the data registered by the Ipix system, online booking made by Romanians on hotels websites account for 23%, in 2008 the increase was 33%, while in 2009, online bookings accounted for 36% of the total bookings, mentioned Gabriel Turicianu, General Manager of Ipix Romania. 

Turicianu stated that Romanians rank first by booking criteria, followed by tourists in the United States, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, France and Spain.

A study carried out worldwide by PhoCusWright U.S. Online Travel shows that 39% of the total bookings are online and they are expected to reach 50% over the next years.
