The financial crisis didn’t affect the traffic of low-cost airlines present on the local market during winter holidays. Actually, the occupancy rate exceeds 80%, even though the number of flights in and from Romania is higher.
Generally, approximately 10% of the tickets sold have a minimum price.
During winter holidays, the occupancy rate of MyAir flights is approximately 85-90%, higher than in 2007, when the company registered 80% occupancy rate. The highest occupancy rate was registered on flights towards Catania, Bari, Roma and Bologna.
Wizz Air company has already an occupancy rate of 85% on flights in and from Romania. The most popular destinations are towards Rome, London, Milan, Barcelona and Dortmund.
Germanwings registers the highest occupancy rate on Bucharest-Berlin route. Andreas Engel, PR manager Germanwings, stated that in 2007, the operator registered an occupancy rate of 81% during winter holidays and for this year it is expected to grow.
At global level, the economic crisis had an impact on the airline market, which registered decreases of traffic over the past months.
