Add comment

The local authorities in Petrosani, Hunedoara county, plan to develop in Parang mountain the longest mountain gondola ropeway in Europe.

The gondola ropeway will have Petrosani – airport area as departure point, an intermediary station will be located near Rusu hotel and the arrival point will be Slima.

According to the vice-mayor of Petrosani city, Claudiu Cornea, the auction for the selection of the company to develop the modernizing works for the ski area will be announced most likely in May.

Claudiu Cornea stated the gondola ropeway, which will connect Petrosani locality with Parang mountain, will be 8.25 km long. The region will thus become the largest ski area in South-Eastern Europe.

The project also includes expanding the existing ski runs, from 3.8 km to 23.6 km, developing the sewerage network and a filter station. The necessary investment will be supported by the Romanian government and complemented by European funds.
