Romania ranks 66th in the top of world tourism competitiveness

According to a report of the World Economic Forum, Romania went up three places in the top of tourism competitiveness, up to 66th position of the 133 countries analysed.

Still, in Europe, Romania occupies the 34th out of 42 countries.

Considering the interest shown by the government in tourism industry, Romania ranks 121st out of 133 countries.

Other disadvantages of Romania are the poor infrastructure and natural environment, taxes effect and decision making transparency of authorities.

According to the World Economic Forum, tourism and other sectors related generated in 2008 USD 9.3 bn. to the GDP of Romania. The estimated level until 2018 consist in a 6.7% yearly increase.
