Romania proposes an unique system for classifying accommodation units in the EU

Add comment
Romania plans to debate with several EU member states the elaboration of a directive regarding the unitary classification of accommodation units.

Lucia Morariu, state secretary for Tourism within the Ministry for Commerce, SMES, Tourism and Liberal Professions, stated that there are already negotiating with specialists and major stakeholders in Hungary and Italy on this issue.

At present, European Union doesn’t have a unitary classifying system on stars or flowers as regards boarding houses.

Lucia Morariu stated that in the EU there are differences concerning institutions establishing the classification of accommodation units. Thus, it is necessary to have a single institution to decide the classification in order to avoid differences between same country regions.
