Lucia Morariu, State Secretary for Tourism within the Ministry for SME’s, Commerce, Tourism and Liberal Professions, stated that within the next 3-4 years, Brasov, Cluj and Timisoara cities could be awarded as tourist city. These cities didn’t get the chance to have a promoted brand in Europe such as Sibiu, at present the only tourist city in the country.
Morariu stated that tourist cities stand out by the number of tourists visiting them, not only by the transit tourists.
Also, Morariu stated that Romania has to focus on promoting spa tourism and eco-tourism as well, not only on tourist cities.
