Until 2011, Romania could develop an anti-aging pilot-resort, according to the Developing Strategy of spa tourism, carried out by the French company Detente Consultants, for the Ministry for Regional Development and Tourism, MDRT.
The pilot resort could be developed in Snagov, at the seaside or in Covasna resort.
According to the data of MDRT, the developing strategy of spa tourism in Romania includes both assessing the present situation of the tourism sector and identifying the influent institutions in the sector, as well as deriving a series of proposals regarding the actions recommended by the consultant. Romania is already known for the healthcare diversifying services, which are under considerable development in Europe, especially on the anti-aging segment, due to Ana Aslan Institute, according to the Developing Strategy of Spa Tourism.
The French consultant recommends that treatment facilities should specialize on preventing aging and anti-aging treatments for seniors, but also for persons willing to be under medical treatment. The pilot-resort should not envisage only rheumatic diseases and asthma treatments but should also target young customers, continuing to rely on the main component, represented by the thermal water. According to the strategy, the Association of Thermal Cities in Romania could be set up in Romania this year and will gather any tourism destination meeting the affiliation criteria.
The main thermal resorts in Romania are Baile Felix, 1 Mai, Baile Olanesti, Baile Herculane, Baile Govora, Calimanesti, Sangeorz Bai, Amara, Mangalia, Techirghiol, Sovata, Vatra Dornei, Covasna and Slanic Moldova.
