Romania and Hungary debate on tourism issues

The fifth meeting of the Romanian – Hungarian Commission for Tourism was held between 5 and 6 November 2008 in Gyula, Hungary.

The specialists of the two countries debate over trends in tourism development in the two countries; strengthen the cross-boarder cooperation and using European funds to develop tourism; encouraging collaboration between the private sector in tourism industry in the two countries.

Lucia Morariu, State Secretary for Tourism within the Ministry for SME’s, Commerce, Tourism and Liberal Professions, stated that the actions envisage strengthen the cross-boarder cooperation in spa tourism, in Baile Herculane, Moneasa, Baile Felix and Buzias resorts, by setting up a spa resorts association in Romania and Hungary and establishing common marketing policies to efficiently promote destinations at international level.

More, both countries agreed to develop common cross-boarder thematic itineraries such as Hungarian Plain and Bihor county area.
