In the first nine months of the year, Aurel Vlaicu - Baneasa International Airport in the capital reported higher traffic by 16%, up to 1.36 mil. passengers, stated George Mihalcea, General Manager of the aiport.
The airport’s turnover increased by 48% in the same period, up to EUR 14.7 mil for the current year, while the gross profit is estimated to increase 4 times, from EUR 1.6 mil. to EUR 6.4 mil., stated George Mihalcea.
In 2008, 1.7 mil. passengers transited the airport.
The traffic on Henri Coanda - Otopeni International Airport dropped 13% in the first eight months of 2009, down to 2.95 mil. passengers.
The turnover increased by approximately 5%, up to EUR 47.3 mil., while the gross profit between January and August was of EUR 14.8 mil, dropping approximately 4% compared to the same period last year, stated Tudor Jidav, General Manager of Otopeni Airport.
Aurel Vlaicu - Baneasa International Airport will merge with Henri Coanda - Otopeni International Airport by setting up Bucharest Airports National Company, following the last month governmental approval.
At the same time, the representatives of Traian Vuia Timisoara Airport stated that the profit dropped by 41% in the first nine months, compared with the last year figures, down to approximately EUR 780,500. The turnover was EUR 5.9 mil., 10% higher compared with the same period last year.
Passenger’s traffic in the first nine months was of 740,000 passengers, 9% higher than the similar period last year.
