29 tourism signs of directing and presenting several historical monuments in Giurgiu and Ruse district were set in the two areas, through a Romanian - Bulgarian project, supported by the European Union. The beneficiary of the project, named “The future of local development, tourism at border", is Giurgiu County Council and its partner Danubius Euro-region in Ruse, Bulgaria. Daniela Peicea, project manager, stated that, in addition to the tourism signs, a cross border strategy was also developed to promote the tourism potential of Giurgiu-Ruse region. “The future of local development, tourism at border” project is valued at EUR 47,785, out of which EUR 5,000 are supported by Giurgiu County Council. The project was completed within 12 months and was financed through the Romania-Bulgaria Cross Border Program, Phare CBC 2006.
