In the first eight months of the current year, the number of tourists accommodated in Predeal mountain resort, Prahova county, dropped over 20%.
Ionel Goidescu, Mayor of the resort, stated that the statistics was based on the approximately 5,000 bed places officially known. In Predeal there are approximately other 2,000 unclassified bed places, whose evolution can not be controlled.
Goidescu stated that the number of construction permits issued by the authorities decreased by more than 200 permits in the first eight months of the year compared to the same period in 2008.
At present, two rehabilitation projects for the ski area are under way in Predeal resort, worth EUR 3.33 mil.
After rehabilitation works, the biathlon runway on Valea Rasnoavei and the one named Sub Teleferic would be upgraded to meet the standards required by the organizers of European Youth Olympic Festival.
