In the first quarter of the current year, Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, AIHCB registered 982,736 passengers, out of which 854,542 traveled towards international destinations and 128,194 towards domestic destinations, increasing by 11.5% compared to the same period in 2009, stated Tudor Jidav, General Manager of Bucharest Airports National Company, CNAB.
Bucharest Baneasa – Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, AIBB-AV reported similar traffic compared to the same period last year of 586,932 passengers, out of which 561,082 traveled towards external destinations and 25,850 to domestic destinations.
Tudor Jidav estimates the two airports will register together this year approximately 6,650,000 passengers.
Regarding the number of aircraft movements registered by AIHCB in the first quarter of the year, it increased by approximately 5% compared to the same period in 2009, up to 17,072, while Baneasa Airport registered 9,594 movements, decreasing by 6% compared to the same period in 2009.
The turnover of Bucharest National Airports Company, resulted from the merge of Otopeni and Baneasa airports, increased by 5% compared to the first three months in 2009, up to EUR 20.4, in the first quarter of 2010, while gross profit increased by 40%, up to EUR 4.8 mil.
