In the first quarter of this year, Henri Coanda International Airport Otopeni registered EUR 14.33 mil. turnover, dropping 8% compared to the turnover registered in the same period in 2008. The airport’s officials stated that the drop was a result of traffic decrease in the analyzed period. In the first quarter of 2009 registered 881,991 passengers, dropping 17 % compared to the same period in 2008. The number of aircrafts movements was 16,292, matching the result registered in the first quarter last year. The representatives of the airport stated that Henri Coanda Airport has an important business traffic segment, of approximately 40%. Right now, there is a migrating trend of business passengers from regular towards low-cost flights, to reduce transport cost. For the second quarter of the year, passengers’ traffic is estimated at 1.24 mil., declining 5% compared to the similar period last year, considering the global economic situation, impacting also the international civil aviation.
