Novotel Bucharest City Center: 25% lower revenues in the first four months

Novotel Bucharest City Center Hotel, 4 star classified, member of Accor French group, registered decreasing revenues by 25% in the first four months of this year, compared to the similar period in 2008, stated Philippe Drivon, general manager of the hotel. 

Moreover, the occupancy rate of the hotel dropped 10 to 15%, down to less than 50% compared to the same period last year.

At present, the unit has 117 employees and does not intend to hire more personnel for the current year.

Accor will open two new hotels in Timisoara in the next 18-24 months under Novotel and Etap brands. Later, the group will open new units in Cluj and Bucharest.

Drivon stated that Accor group will open around 10-12 hotels on the local market on medium term, to cover national market. Most hotels will be 2-3 star classified, with average tariffs of EUR 50 per night. Accor targets Romanian clients with lower budget by opening these new locations, stressed the representative of Novotel.

Novotel Bucharest City Center together with Air France-KLM opened the first check-in online terminal of the airlines company, available only for hotel guests. The investment reached EUR 2,500. The group plans to install terminals in other hotels of the hotel chain too. Novotel Bucharest City Center is the first hotel in the world benefiting of Air France-KLM terminal.

At present, Novotel owns approximately 400 hotels and resorts in 60 countries.
