E-cultura company in Spain performed a market study together with Brasov County Council for developing tourism in the county. The study meets tourism development and promotion needs in Brasov county. Jose Maria Jimeno, the company’s manager, stated that Brasov could become a key hot spot for tourists, if the county’s rich heritage is turned to advantage. According to the study results, Brasov is known for its nature and winter sports. Although there are many tourism attractions and historical monuments in the county, the most visited are the Black Church and Bran Castle. There is a gap of information for tourists about the other attractions. Jose Maria Jimeno stated therefore that a general strategy is needed but also a specific strategy for each monument. The study includes a rehabilitation program for several top objectives in the county, such as Fagaras citadel, Rupea citadel but also setting up in Rupea locality a Tourism Center for Romanians, Hungarians and Germans in the area. Rasnov fortress, Prejmer or Ethnography Museum are other attractions to be rehabilitated over the next years. Cultural heritage of the entire county was listed. The results showed there are 150 material resources and 75 non-material, more than enough to turn Braosv in a cultural attraction, specified Jose Maria Jimeno. The monuments will be rehabilitated in several phases. All projects will be supported by European funds of EUR 80 mil.
The study cost EUR 40,000, amount allocated from the County Council budget.
