JW Marriott in Bucharest estimates a 6% occupancy increase in Q1

Igael Porecki, General Manager of JW Marriott in Bucharest, 5 star classified, expects an occupancy increase by 6% in the first quarter, compared to the same period in 2009.

In 2009, the 5 star market in the capital reported an occupancy of approximately 60%, specified Porecki.

The manager of Marriott hotel stated that the event segment registered an increasing trend in 2009 and that he also counts on the leisure travel segment, which is the solution to counterbalance the crash of business travel segment, in times of financial crisis, with a more severe decrease during the summer season. 

Marriott’s representative specified that the unit will renovate the Grand Ballroom event hall this year. The works will start by the end of January and will be completed by the beginning of March. 

Another project tis year, scheduled for June, is turning Cupola restaurant in a steak-house.

In the first half of the year, the unit will not increase tariffs, waiting for the five star market’s recovery, in order to adjust the prices.
