Kurt Strohmayer, general manager of 5 stele JW Marriott hotel in Bucharest, stated that the hotel will register decreasing turnover and profit in 2009, compared to last year's results. Although the hotel followed an increasing trend during the latest years, the average room occupancy rate stagnated in 2008 and might decline this year, Strohmayer stated. Strohmayer said that the tarriffs will not be lowered, even if the international economic environment might determine a decline of the travel and tourism industry. JW Marriott representative stated that the hotel will count of the food&beverage segment, which is expected to experience a sustained growth this year, the hotel's plans for this year also including the refurbishment of Vienna Café. Strohmayer also foresees a declining trend of the premium segment, individuals renting hotel rooms for short periods of time.
