Investments in tourism development in Tulcea city

The first project to develop tourism in the South-Eastern region of Romania envisage cleaning and arranging Ciuperca Lake, located downtown Tulcea locality.

The project to be completed at the beginning of this summer includes cleaning the lake, as well as constructing space areas for commercial units to turn the region in a hot spot. The lake shores will be rehabilitated after completing the works and a beach with all necessary facilities will be set up.

The project value is over EUR 3.37mil., 50% of the amount will be supported by the the Agency for Environment Fund while the rest of the money are covered by Tulcea Local Council.

Also, the authorities will allocate EUR 120,480 to develop an artesian well on the lake area.

Another project, worth EUR 800,000, financed by Tulcea Local Council envisage the park on the lake’s shore, creating pedestrian alleys, bike trails, rehabilitating the public illumination and planting materials for dendrology.  

Tulcea County Council approved the co-financing worth approximately EUR 12.05 mil. for rehabilitating and including in a tourist circuits of two patrimony buildings in the city, namely the former Palace of Pasha and the Avramide House.  

The project was selected for financing from Structural Funds through the 2007-2013 Regional Operational Program, priority axis – “Sustainable development and tourism promotion”, major domain 5.1 – “Rehabilitation and sustainable exploiting the cultural patrimony, as well as developing the connected infrastructure.  

The total value of the project exceeds EUR 11.08 mil. Tulcea County Council will finance approximately EUR 240,964.

Another tourism project initiated by Tulcea County Council envisage to improve the road infrastructure of Celic-Dere - Saon - Cocos region, known as the “Monasteries Triangle” of the North Dobrogea. The project, estimated at approximately EUR 20 mil., is supported by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism and will be financed by European funds.

In 2009, the Ministry of Tourism announced to finance by approximately EUR 20 mil. several projects in Tulcea county such as three small marinas in Sfantu Gheorghe, Murighiol and Sarichioi, setting up a beach in Sulina, as well as several panoramic view towers.
