The international hotel chains plan to launch new brands on the market in Romania within the next 2 years.
Wyndham hotel chain, present in Romania with Ramada and Howard Johnson brands, will also enter the 3 star hotel segment, by developing the first Days Inn unit.
Days Inn hotel with approximately 120 rooms is a greenfield investment, which will open next Autumn in Sibiu.
This June, Wyndham will open a hotel under Ramada brand in Oradea, while two more units under the same brand are under developing in Cluj and Pitesti cities. Marriott chain, operating in Romania through JW Marriott brand, plans to open the first hotel under Courtyard brand in Romania in 2011.
Courtyard hotel with 198 rooms, 4 star classified, will be located in the capital. The international hotel chain will manage the unit, while an Israeli company will make the investment.
Also, Hilton hotel chain took over the management of two hotels operated under Hampton brand.
The first unit will open in 2011 in Brasov and will have 104 rooms. Future Invest investment fund is the project’s developer, which will carry out a greenfield investment.
Hilton operates under this brand in the capital, but also under Double Tree brand in Oradea. Hilton’s representatives are currently negotiating to introduce other brands of their portfolio, but no partnership has yet been signed.
Hotel market sources show that InterContinental Hotels group, which operates under InterContinental and Crowne Plaza brands in Bucharest, is currently negotiating to re-launch Holiday Inn brand in Romania. Further, Carlson Hotels Worldwide company, operating under Radisson Blu brand in Bucharest, plans to enter the local market with Park Inn brand.
Arpad Paskani, businessman from Cluj city, announced the development of a hotel under Sheraton brand, but it is not sure whether the project will be completed.
