Hotels on Prahova Valley cut rates by 23% in 2009

Although the main trend is dropping rates in tourism as a result of a lower occupancy in accommodation units, many owners of hotels and boarding houses on Prahova Valley have not reduced tariffs per room significantly as it shows the study of hotel bookings system CaptainGo.com.

The 5 star segment registered 21% decrease of tariffs in 2009, compared to 2008 and 16% decrease on rooms booked through CaptainGO.com system. The study was performed on 2 units 5 star classified located on Prahova Valley.

The 4 star segment in this area dropped rates by 23% on the direct booking channel and by 20% by using CaptainGO.com. The sample is represented by 10 hotels.

The 3 star segment registered 13% fall. The average tarrif through CaptainGO.com declined 15% compared to 2008. For this segment, the sample comprises 18 hotels.

On the 2 star segment, on the direct booking channel a drop of 11% was registered, while bookings through CatpainGO.com dropped 13% for the 52 hotels included in this category.

Rates for 4 star hotel rooms in Predeal mountain resort declined 20% in 2009 compared to 2008, down to EUR 48 according to the report of CaptainGO.com. 3 star hotels decreased tariffs by 18%, down to EUR 42.

In Sinaia resort, the average price for 4 star rooms booked directly reduced by 21% in 2009 compared to the previous year, down to EUR 73. The 3 star hotels have lowered the average tariff by 20% in 2009 compared to 2008, down to EUR 46.

The 4 star segment for Predeal and Sinaia resorts included 10 hotels, while the 3 star segment comprised 18 hotels.
