Hotel transactions in Romania fell by 79% in 2008

According to the analysis of Cushman & Wakefield real estate consultancy company, the number as well as the total value of investments on Romanian real estate market dropped in 2008. Major transactions registered EUR 0.97 bn., half of the value registered in 2007. Transactions on the hotel market registered the highest falls compared to 2007, by 79%, reaching EUR 18 mil.

The industrial sector follows hotel transactions, registering a 71% decrease compared to 2007, down to EUR 44 mil.

Retail transactions accounted for 46% in the total value of investments in 2008, similar to 2007.

In Europe, investments dropped by 52% reaching USD 178 bn. from USD 367 bn.

Cushman & Wakefield is the largest company in the world with private capital in real estate sector. The company owns 227 offices in 59 countries and has over 15,000 employees.
