Paul Marasoiu, President of Romanian Convention Bureau, RCB, considers the sector will register a noticeable increase in the next 3 to 5 years, once new hotels highly oriented on reunions are opened and the first two conference centers become operational.

Adrian Adam, sales and marketing manager within Radisson SAS Hotel, stated that F&B segment generated approximately 35-40% of the revenues, including the events segment.

Meda Vasiliu, sales and marketing manager of JW Marriott stated that 50% of the turnover came from F&B segment in 2008.

The activities related to the conference center account for 50% of the turnover of Rin Grand Hotel, as well.

Regarding investments in new conference halls, Ramada hotel plans to start works for developing a multifunctional hall with a capacity of 1,500 seats, which will connect Ramada Plaza and Ramada Bucharest Parc hotels.

For the former Sofitel hotel, at present Pullman, renting the halls for events generated approximately 13% of the revenues. For the current year, it is estimated a drop by 20-25% on this segment, compared to 2008, stated Monica Constantin, interim general manager.

At global level, the reunions industry generates thousands of billion dollars to municipalities, professional events companies, hotel owners and services providers.
