On March 18, Google organized a seminar to promote Romanian tourism, hosted by Steffen Ehrhardt, Specialist in products on emergent markets, Carmel Doherty, AdWords Manager on emergent markets and Iulia Mihailescu, Account Manager on new markets.
Steffen Ehrhardt stated that Romania is a market with a very high potential both as regards tourism resources criteria and tourism operators which could be promoted by Google.
Iulia Mihailescu stated that 97% of the 7.4 mil. Internet Romanian users use Google search engine and the number of searches made by Romanians is growing although the number of visitors coming to Romania dropped 25% last year compared to the previous year.
Ehrhardt stated that Romania is prepared to have a local office but no official decision was taken regarding setting up an office in Romania. At present, Google branch in Ireland is in charge of Romania.
