For 2009, the representatives of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimate that the airline industry will register losses of USD 2.5 bn. worldwide, 50% less than the current year. This drop of losses is determined by the reduction of fuel price. For 2009 estimates, IATA considered an average price of USD 60 per barrel of fuel. More, for 2009, IATA foresees a decrease of passengers’ traffic of approximately 3% and a revenues decline by over 6%, from USD 536 bn. representing the estimates for 2008, up to USD 501 bn.
