Flynova, the local division of Novatours, the largest tour-operator in Baltic Countries, suspended the activity in Romania indefinitely, due to the actual economic context. More than 100 clients, who have already booked holidays for summer season, will either be fully reimbursed or be offered one of the alternatives provided by Flynova of travelling through other tour-operators on the market. Booking hotel rooms and other benefits, early bookings or bonuses for loyal clients, are still valid. Raimondas Useckas, executive manager of Flynova, stated that the company started to operate in Romania under difficult conditions, before the economic crisis began. Most of the travel agencies already had long term relations with other tour-operators, making it harder for Flynova to compete and provide them with additional advantages. The company succeeded in closing contracts with more than 350 agencies. But market’s perspectives don’t meet the company’s objectives, which led to the decision of suspending the activity, specified Useckas. Flynova started its activity in Romania in March 2008, providing holidays in Turkey, Greece, Tunis and Egipt. In 2008, over 5,000 tourists benefited of the services provided by the company, which registered a EUR 2.5 mil. turnover. Flynova estimated a turnover of EUR 6 mil. for the current year.
