Expanding plans of hotel chains in Romania go on in 2009

The opening of three important hotel units has been announced for 2009. The units are: the five star hotel, Grand Hotel Continental, the four star hotel, Golden Tullip Palladium and Royale hotel developed by the Lithuanians from Europa Group.  

According to an analysis performed by Ziarul Financiar newspaper, considering only the projects already announced, this year there would open from 12 to 15 hotels on the local market, following a EUR 150 mil. investment. These investments are firstly attracted by major cities in the country outside Bucharest.

Hilton international chain opened in Sibiu the second unit in Romania, while the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide chain will open its first unit in Romania at Cluj.

Golden Tulip hotel chain plans to affiliate by the end of 2010 a total of 11 hotels on the local market. The hotel developed in Cluj by Ana Oil company, the hotel in Moeciu owned by Mistral company and Golden Tulip Palladium which will be developed in the capital by Nord Group are amongst them.

This year Ramada chain will affiliate at least two units in Oradea and Cluj.
Best Western chain plans to affiliate this year three hotel units, reaching thus 15 hotels affiliated in Romania.  

Continental Hotels company plans to open two more hotels this year, respectively a Ibis hotel in Sibiu and the 5 star hotel, Bucharest Grand Hotel Continental.
