Elena Udrea, the Minister for Tourism, stated that the events organized in Paris launching the international promoting campaign of Romania, had a cost of approximately EUR 88,000 and included the events held in front of the city hall in Paris and posters around the town. On June 5, the Ministry of Tourism launched in Paris the promotion campaign of Romania as tourism destination internationally under the slogan Romania – Land of choice, with the participation of Ilie Nastase and Nadia Comaneci, as well as representatives of Paris City Hall and French Tennis Federation. Udrea stated that Paris was chosen to start the campaign as Romania and France have good relations and Bucharest was once called the Little Paris. The minister is expecting an increase of foreign tourists coming to Romania of at least 10% this year following the campaign.
