Predeal city hall plans to allocate over EUR 4 mil., plus VAT, for developing ski slopes in the resort in order to comply with the necessary international standards to host the 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival. The project will mainly be financed by local funds and the budget of Ministry of Tourism. Radu Constantin, inspector of Predeal city hall, stated that the project will include improving an area of over 22 ha of ski slopes, drains will be made to prevent creation of ice formations. Belvedere points will also be set up. The completion period is within 2 years. In July, Predeal municipality will hold an auction to choose the company which will be in charge of the project. The investors interested in the project have to deposit a participation guarantee of EUR 71,400 and a performance bond of 7% of the contract’s value. They also have to prove that the company obtained profit in the last 3 years and registered a minimum EUR 8.33 mil. turnover. Deadline for tenders is July 13. Winter edition of 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival will be held between 16 and 23 of February 2013 on Prahova Valley and Brasov-Rasnov region. According to the authorities estimates, hosting the festival will cost EUR 83 mil.
